Reporting to the Modeling Supervisor, the well‑rounded Modeler will execute poly modeling skills for environments, vehicles, props, and characters to be used in production, with emphasis on photo‑realism, accuracy, detail, and function. Working within the in‑house modeling pipeline, the Modeler solves technical issues independently.
Key responsibilities
- Creates high‑quality models and UVs for production; implements improvements based on feedback and direction.
- Designs and implements modeling from high‑level concept to practical output.
- Proactively recommends pipeline improvements; identifies issues and provides solutions.
- Maintains positive relationships with stakeholder departments; attends meetings as needed.
- Works within the defined pipeline, ensuring continuity across texture, lookdev, generalists, and rigging.
- Completes assigned tasks on schedule.
Qualifications
- Proven VFX experience modeling photorealistic assets for live‑action feature films.
- Expert in Maya; able to troubleshoot and teach workflows.
- Excellent knowledge of ZBrush and/or Mudbox; Mari knowledge is a plus.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to take design from ambiguous brief to full implementation.
- Understanding of rigging process and displacement map workflows.
- Experience with creatures, digi doubles, topology, and blend shapes (preferred).
- Eye for detail and ability to QA work to the highest standard (preferred).
- Excellent time management and prioritization; thrives under deadlines (preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication; team player able to work independently (preferred).
