Preliminary investigations suggest that the crash may have been caused by a bird strike, leading to an emergency situation on board. This prompted the pilot to divert to an alternate airfield, with Aktau being selected.

Initial investigations suggest that the crash may have been caused by a bird strike, leading to an emergency diversion. The plane, which had deviated from its intended course, attempted an emergency landing at Aktau. Additionally, reports mention potential issues with GPS jamming during the flight, which could have disrupted the aircraft’s navigation systems. Some experts also speculate that external threats, like a missile attack or air defense fire, may have contributed to the crash, pointing to damage on the plane's tail section.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Russia collaborating with Embraer to determine the exact cause. While weather conditions, technical issues, and external factors are being examined, no official conclusions have been drawn yet.

At present, the identities of the pilots have not been released, as their names are typically withheld during the initial investigation stages for privacy and thoroughness.
